Paryavaran Mitra - Strategy for Andhra Pradesh

CEE with support from the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Govt of India and Arcellor Mittal is implementing “Paryavaran Mitra” Programme - an action-based programme; for school students, focusing on Sustainability and Climate Change from 2010-2013. This nation-wide programme envisions creating Paryavaran Mitras (Friends of the Environment) in schools across all the districts of every state across India.

In Andhra Pradesh, the programme is being executed with support from the Department of Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, as a State Level competition for this academic year 2010-11.

24000 schools - all the Government Upper Primary Schools (UPS) and Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) in the state will receive the following materials developed by CEE -

• Wall Poster (to be displayed in the school) with information about the competition
• Registration Form (to be filled and sent to CEE before taking part in the competition)
• Activity Guideline (to help you undertake the activities under the competition)
• Reporting Format (to be filled and sent to CEE at the end of the competition)

If the school is interested to take part in this competition, they should register with CEE within a week after receiving the material. Any school in the state interested to take part in the competition may please contact us for the information materials.

The school will get two-three months time to undertake the activities of the campaign. The schools need to share the details in the reporting format latest by 28^th February, 2011.

Based on the reports and photographs, the schools will be evaluated and one best school per district will be selected for a cash prize of Rs.10, 000 and a certificate awarded by the Paryavaran Ambassador Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
