Materials reach the schools

The information material has been distributed to 23235 schools (Govt Upper
Primary Schools and Zilla Parishad High Schools)

Have received acknowledgements over phone from the POs and DEOs in all the 23 districts

In 19 districts, the materials are still being distributed to the schools. Expecting that all 23235 schools will receive the materials within this week.

An SMS group has been created for the POs, DEOs and all the registered schools

Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS), Nawabpet, Mahbubnagar District is the first Government School to register for the Paryavaran Mitra State Level Competition. This is among the 23235 schools to whom the PM materials have been distributed to.

PM Materials disseminated across to 23235 schools in Andhra Pradesh

The Paryavaran Mitra Wall Posters and other materials have been disseminated to the 23235 Government Upper Primary Schools and Zilla Parishad High Schools across the state with support from the Andhra Pradesh State Department of School Education. The Rajiv Vidya Mission Project Officers, Mandal Education Officers and District Education Officers (RMSA) have been helping us in distribution to all the schools in 23 districts :) Thank you all.

First School to register for PM - Tulasi Talent High School

Tulasi Talent High School, Rangareddy District, Andhra Pradesh is the first school to register for Paryavaran Mitra :) Cudos the principal Mr. Y. Srinivas Rao for taking up the GREEN initiative.

The student in this school are already working towards Energy Conservation and following the 3R concept of Waste Management!!!

Here's how you can become a PARYAVARAN MITRA

1.    Register your school with the Centre for Environment Education (CEE) Andhra Pradesh State Office. 
2.      For registration:
a.       Fill the registration form and send it to us by Post/Fax/E-mail within a week after you receive the material.
b.      Call us and register over phone
3.      Upon registration, the school will be given a unique registration number. Please refer to this number for future correspondence.
4.      All the registered schools will get 2-3 months time to do the activities.  
5.      There are five themes under which the actions need to be undertaken. Details and ideas related to the actions are in the Activity Guidelines Document.  
6.      To qualify as the best school, minimum 3 activities should be undertaken (in 3 different themes). If you are already doing some of the activities, choose additional activities.
7.      All the activities should be documented and reported to CEE in a specific format (enclosed) along with photos, news clippings and any other material developed by the students. All the information can be sent by post/e-mail.
8.      The last date for receiving the reports by post/e-mail is 28th February,2011
9.      The schools will be evaluated during March based on the reports and the activities undertaken. 5 schools from each district will be shortlisted for the paryavaran mitra award. 
10.  One out of the five shortlisted schools from each district, will be selected as the ‘BEST’ school.
11.  The school names will be announced by 15th April, 2011 and the school will get a cash prize of Rs.10, 000 from Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam (Paryavaran Ambassador)
12.  All the participating schools will be acknowledged as Paryavaran Mitras and receive a participation certificate signed by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.

Paryavaran Mitra - Strategy for Andhra Pradesh

CEE with support from the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Govt of India and Arcellor Mittal is implementing “Paryavaran Mitra Programme - an action-based programme; for school students, focusing on Sustainability and Climate Change from 2010-2013. This nation-wide programme envisions creating Paryavaran Mitras (Friends of the Environment) in schools across all the districts of every state across India.

In Andhra Pradesh, the programme is being executed with support from the Department of Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, as a State Level competition for this academic year 2010-11.

24000 schools - all the Government Upper Primary Schools (UPS) and Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) in the state will receive the following materials developed by CEE -
  • Wall Poster (to be displayed in the school) with information about the competition
  • Registration Form (to be filled and sent to CEE before taking part in the competition)
  • Activity Guideline (to help you undertake the activities under the competition)
  • Reporting Format (to be filled and sent to CEE at the end of the competition)
If the school is interested to take part in this competition, they should register with CEE within a week after receiving the material. Any school in the state interested to take part in the competition may please contact us for the information materials.

The school will get two-three months time to undertake the activities of the campaign. The schools need to share the details in the reporting format latest by 28th February, 2011.

Based on the reports and photographs, the schools will be evaluated and one best school per district will be selected for a cash prize of Rs.10, 000 and a certificate awarded by the Paryavaran Ambassador Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
